After noticing that her eighth grade students had problems concentrating during the math class, a North Carolina teacher decided to release their energy in a different way -- cycling.

It doesn’t sound like the most common thing to do during the math class, but Bethany Lambeth, a teacher from Wake County, says that ever since she fixed the cycling machines under her students desks, the quality of their work has improved greatly, they are more concentrated.

“Before, they were knocking on their desks and touching other people, and they don’t do that anymore,” she said, “There has been a huge increase in the quality of our student’s work and a drop in the number of missing work.”

“The kids are not picking on each other, they are able to get their activities out and get their work done,” the young educator added. “I think the world is changing a lot and the kids need to do something different.”

Lambeth installed the cycling machines at the end of last year, paying around $ 150 for each. After learning about the success of Lambeth’s project, school officials are all excited about the role cycling machines could play in Special Education classes.

The kids love the new “toys” very much. Sofia Fedele, one of the Lambeth’s students, said cycling helps her concentrate on her work and keeps her exercising during class. Quinn Spear, another student, also talked about the health benefits of cycling during class. He told reporters that he had cycled 5.5 miles, all before 10 am.

It might not be difficult for you to recognize the names of some famous artists like Picasso and Van Gogh. However, it might be a little hard for you to remember the name of another talented painter who is just six years old. She is Iris Halmshaw from England taking the art world by storm.

Iris has been living with autism since she was very young and she not speak. Luckily, she has developed the hobby of painting and painting has been a way for her to express herself. Her mother said she looked for ways to help control Iris’s illness, but nothing could quite relieve her loneliness. For Iris Halmshaw, the world was a lonely place.

Nothing ever changed until a cat called Thula came to her life. The pair’s close relationship is having an effect on Iris’s relationship with others, too. Her parents find it easier to encourage her to speak when Thula is around. Thula is at Iris’s side for every part of her life, including her painting time. She fills her days with painting, and she is so clever that her works sell for as much as £1.500.

Not only has Iris been in newspapers, but her work has even been in an exhibit in central London.
