  1.小岛举办足球赛

  V1.讲的是一个B country, five yrs ago, host 了一个soccer体育盛事,结果tourists数量激增25%,带来了经济增长。现在B国又想要发展经济吸引游客,就想着再开一个international competition,觉得游客还会再来,再获得成功。

  >>> 考古

  V3 是说一个小岛五年前举行过一场足球赛,在接下来的几年里面旅游人数增加了 25%, 所 以 arguer 认为要再举行一场盛大的 sporting event,这一定能促进旅游发展而且对小岛的 经济有好处!!!

  1. 足球赛和旅游人数增加之间不一定有因果; 2. 旅游人数增加是因为别的原因; 3. 几年 前的和现在的情况不一样; 4.举办 event 的 cost 未知,不一定 benefit 经济。

  V5 B 城市 host events 的 argument 是一个 office 的官员写给貌似旅游部门的 memo,主 要内容是因为 B 城市(觉得好像翻译应该是巴西吧)在 5 年前 hosted a major soccer competition. 然后在随后的三年里 the number of tourists increased 25%。所以他们向 该部门建议,host another sport event 来吸引游客,然后就能够通过吸引更多的游客来 提高该市的经济了。

  >>> 参考思路

  1. 时地全等:五年前举行过一次足球赛继而接下来的几年里面旅游人数增加 25%,但是这 并不代表现在还能吸引游客。举例可以说全球经济不好,旅游的人数可能会减少,或者当地 治安不佳,旅客反而减少了。

  2. 错误因果:办足球赛和旅游人数上升这两个事件没有必然的因果关系,有可能旅游人数 上升是因为其他因素,例如这个小岛开发了新的旅游项目从而吸引了更多顾客。

  3. 无关假设:举办盛大的 sporting event 并不一定能带来客观的经济效益,尽管有这个可 能性,但是如果举办活动的 cost 很高,赚得的钱无法 cover 很高的 cost 也同样不可行。

  2. Citrus fruit

  V1.作文是 citrus fruit那个,价格在11年里5 cents涨到30 cents,但是只有一年是天气不好,所以种植者需要为如此excessive的涨价负责。。好像之前有看到过,反正不难啦

  >>> 参考思路

  1. 因果关系:种植者抬价并不是唯一影响因素,可能还有环境保护、加工价格上升、人力成本上升,或者通货膨胀等因素。Monetary inflation, increased distribution and labor costs, or alterations in supply and demand conditions the growers’ desire for increased profits.

  2. 无根据假设:天气好,所以果树的产量一定高。The editorial rests on a unconvincing assumption that the bad weather in only one of these last eleven years leads to the yield’s reduction in citrus fruit.

  3. 错误类比:柠檬和橘类水果类比是否正确;或者说,柠檬有其特殊性,譬如柠檬都是进口的,比较贵,因此不具有可比性。

  In this editorial the author argues for the imposition of strict pricing regulations in order to prevent citrus growers from continued inflation of prices of citrus fruit. The need for such regulation is supported by the author’s contention that citrus growers have been unnecessarily raising prices of citrus fruit in the past. The evidence for this allegation is the fact that the price of lemons at Megamart has increased from 15 cents per pound to over a dollar a pound during the preceding 11-year period. The author maintains that this increase is unjustifiable because weather conditions have been favorable to citrus production in all but one of those years. This argument is flawed for several reasons.

  First and foremost, the author assumes that the only factor that influences the price of citrus fruit is the weather. Other factors such as monetary inflation, increased distribution and labor costs, or alterations in supply an demand conditions are completely ignored as possible sources for the increase. The charge that citrus growers have unnecessarily raised prices can be sustained only if these and other possible factors can be completely ruled out as contributing to the price increases. Since the author fails to address these factors, the recommendation calling for strict pricing regulations can be dismissed out of hand as frivolous.

  Second, the author assumes that the only way to combat increased prices is through government intervention. In a free enterprise system many other means of affecting the pricing of goods are available. For example, boycotting a product and thereby influencing supply and demand conditions of the commodity is an effective means of influencing the price of the product. In a free market economy the call for price regulation by the government should occur only when all other means to rectify the problem have been exhausted.

  In conclusion, the author’s argument is unconvincing. To strengthen the argument it would be necessary to show that the only factor influencing the price increases is the growers’ desire for increased profits.

  3.奢侈化妆品公司

  V1.说一个叫Kalloni的做cosmetic product的公司CEO讲,公司在Europe的业绩很好,但是在the US就不好。于是他就提出说要partner with Mega-Beauty,因为Mega有unparalled distribution network,这样之后能提高他们的long-term profitability。 提好critique的吧,我写的一个是没有证据表明在US业绩不好和distribution有关,再一个就是没有说明Mega怎么能帮助他们了。

  一个欧洲的奢侈化妆品Kalloni公司的CEO说,丫们的Luxury的产品虽然不错一直打不进美国市场。慎重考虑之后丫推荐和美国的一个叫做Mega Beauty的大型经销商合作。Mega Beauty是一个拥有20多种discount低价/廉价化妆品牌的大型经销商。CEO说合作之后相信能打开市场增加销量,并且对公司Long-term的Growth和profitability有帮助 。 我已经把我觉得可以攻击的点标出来了= =

  Kallni还是Kallon公司的那个,这个公司的C神马luxury product(觉得这里是一个分析点结合后面的美国分销商)是have had been well known in Europe, but in the U.S. we have had difficulty selling 还是 getting market, 然后ceo建议,经过 careful consideration, 美国的distributor 是个不错的合作对象,哦名字是Mega-Beauty 神马(记得住是因为这边的彩票也叫Mega),M公司怎么20 national discount brand,而且has over 1500 discount store,与M 的agreement能够让K公司get access to the distribution network that 什么 整个industry, 然后这个agreement可以给K公司long term growth 和 profitability。

  AWA一个欧洲的.small,luxury corporate的ceo写了一个memo说和mega-beauty,一个美国distributor联合可以解决一直停滞不前的美国市场。并且可以earn profit和long-term interest。这个distributor和20个discount brand做,在美国有1500家门店。

  >>> 参考思路

  1.无理由假设:奢饰化妆品和低端化妆品的受众不同,销售方法也不同,不能认为两者的合作可以促进高端化妆品的销售。有可能高端化妆品与低端产品合作之后,影响高端产品在消费者心目中的形象,从而影响销售量。

  2.时地全等:从现在的发展情况无法推出未来的发展趋势,所以说两者的合作会对公司长期发展有帮助的说法是错误的。

  3.因果关系——忽略它因:影响利润的因素很多,还包括生产成本,与meg beauty合作的成本等,不能简单认为两者合作就一定对未来的利润有帮助。
