The coming and the company of the volunteers is like casting a stone into a pool of stagnant water, stirring up some waves but with the stone sank to the bottom of the pool and disappeared, water returned to silence.
Volunteers’ weekly visits, just like casting a stone into a pool of stagnant water, make no difference to the seniors’ existing life.
4. “的”=“of”?
…settled a heart of fascinating about the undiscovered future.
……learn from the research of the students.
同时应注意,A of B的准确用法(of词组不做具体分析):
1)A属于B。如,
a book of mine (= one of my books)
the roof of the house
a member of the football team
the city of London
the state of California
4)A和B是动宾or主谓关系。如,
the arrival of police (= The police arrived)
the payment of bills (=to pay the bills)
5. “但”=“but”?
It’s an old car, but it’s very reliable.
an extremely unpleasant disease that is, however, easy to treat.
